User Guide: Add-In - Action Log Private By Default

Add-Ins Overview

The Cireson Service Manager Portal Add-In feature is a location for pre-packaged solutions. Simply toggle a solution on, and it is active. Toggle any solution off if you no longer wish to use it. This approach allows for a streamlined, no-code approach to extensibility in the Cireson Service Manager Portal.

Note: This version of the Add-In is built and tested against version 10.2.0 of the Cireson Portal. It is recommended you are using that version or higher with this Add-In

 

Action Log Private By Default Summary

The Action Log Private By Default Add-In automatically checks the 'Is Private' option in the WorkItem Action log. Some organistation will prefer to have action log comments set to Private by default to encourage analysts to enter working notes to the Incident or Service Request (or any Work Item) without impacting the amount of data visable to the affected user or sent to the affected user via update e-mails. The box will be checked on form load and rechecked upon the creation of a comment, ready for another if needed.

Each setting for the Add-In is as follows:

Testing and Validation

  1. If experiencing issues, refer to KB Article 2568 here for overall Add-Ins troubleshooting steps
  2. Run through the Add-In’s functionality with default settings.
    1. Verify the following:
      1. In the developer console (open up a browser > dev tools > console), you see that the Action Log Private By Default Add-In is loaded
      2. Open a Work Item form and verify that the Is Private checkbox is checked by default
      3. When adding a comment, the Is Private Checkbox is rechecked
  3. As you change settings, go through the above again with browser console open
    1. Verify no error messages
    2. Verify your changed settings behave as expected

 

Examples

With the settings set to true (default value) the Is Private checkbox will be checked automatiicaly on page load

 

With the settings set to false the Is Private checkbox will be unchecked on page load - this is the default Portal behaviour
