Auto Close app
The Cireson Auto Close app takes the headache out of automating the closure of a Work Item! This app provides an intuitive interface to configure an Incident, Problem, Change, Release and Service Request to automatically Close at a daily specified time and provided number of days.
The following set of instructions will walk you through how to configure the Auto Close app.
Prerequisites
Copy the following DLL’s to your Service Manager installation folder (C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager) on your Service Manager Management Server from the Authoring Tool installation folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager Authoring\PackagesToLoad):
Microsoft.ServiceManager.WorkflowAuthoring.ActivityLibrary.dll
Microsoft.ServiceManager.WorkflowAuthoring.Common.dll
Step 1: Install Auto Close app
To install the Auto Close app, import the provided licensed Management Packs (MP) into SCSM and copy the provided “CiresonAutoCloseWorkflows.dll” to the Service Manager installation directory. To complete this installation, perform the following steps:
- Unblock the downloaded ZIP file by right-clicking the download, selecting Properties, click the Unblock checkbox and click Ok
- Unzip the ZIP file in a location on the Service Management Server
- Navigate to Administration -> Management Packs and click the 'Import' task
- Import the provided Management Pack labeled “CiresonAutoCloseWorkflows.xml”
- Import the provided Management Pack labeled “CiresonAutoCloseSettings.mpb”
- Copy the provided “CiresonAutoCloseWorkflows.dll” to the Service Manager installation folder, %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager\
Step 2: Configure Auto Close app
After importing the Auto Close app, you will need to configure the application settings within the Administration section of the SCSM Console. To complete the configuration, perform the following steps:
- Navigate to Administration -> Settings
- Select “Cireson – Auto Close Settings” and select “Edit” in the Tasks menu
Note: Only the "Resolved" and "Completed" status will be affected by the Auto Close App.Â
Settings for the Auto-Close app are uniform across work items. Here is a description of each of the settings that can be changed for each work item
{Work Item} Resolved/Completed/Cancelled/Failed for days - How many days a work item can be at the appropriate status before being Auto-Closed by the app
Workflow runs at - What time to run the Auto-Close workflow to close these work items where the workflow is enabled and the criteria is after the number of days set
Workflow Enabled - Use this checkbox to turn on or off the workflow
Select Implementation Result - Checkbox enables the use of changing the Implementation enumeration per work item it closes
Select Implementation Result - Dropdown allows the app to apply this enumeration
Log Path
Establish the Log Path to a location that is easily accessible to you. This can be a local path, or an UNC path to another computer or server.Â
Step 3: Using the Auto Close app
Following the configuration of the Auto Close app, the application will run at the specified “Workflow runs at” times for the enabled Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request and Release Management areas. These workflows will run in the background and automatically Close your Work Items.
