Reference: License Abuse Flags in New Licensing Experience

The new Cireson license model simplifies the process of application licensing by using a single product key for each environment.

It is important that appropriate use guidelines are followed to prevent license abuse flags being set. An internet connection is required for communication to the license server and in air gapped environments, our support can work with you to mitigate the related abuse flags if incurred.

Note: A Product Key is designed for use with a specific environment only.  If you require additional Product Keys for use with TEST/DEV/STAGE environments, you can request these through our portal request offering.

The following situations will create abuse flags:

Flag 1:  If more than 2 unique IP addresses have submitted this product key within the last 48 hours: this indicates that more than 2 servers are using this product key - this could be due to increased load-balancing, or perhaps various Cireson applications are distributed among more than 4 servers.

Flag 2:  If more than half of the last 25 Product Key requests come from IP addresses with different numbers in the IP address: this indicates that the requests are coming from drastically different server locations / datacenters. Generally speaking servers that are for a given environment will be located in the same data center and have similar public IP addresses at least to the first octet. This could indicate that the product key is being shared amongst multiple companies.

Flag 3: If the average daily number of requests for this product key / application in the last 30 days is greater than 8.  This is higher than expected and could be indicative of product key sharing.

Flag 4: If the value of one or more asset counts (analyst count, end user count, hardware asset count) differs from the historical average (over the last 7 days) by more than 10%: this could indicate a product key is being used in two completely different environments.
