License server communication to Cireson

As part of the protection against Cireson Portal license abuse (does not apply to other Cireson applications), the licensing service sends information about the installed environment to Cireson.

The following counts are computed by the cache builder service:

  • Count of analysts (all users in the analyst group)
  • Count of end users (all users found in any role)
  • Count of hardware assets (all assets with the class: "Cireson.AssetManagement.HardwareAsset")

No other information is transferred from the customer environment to Cireson.

Note: The Cireson Licensing model is based on the End User count for all Cireson Software solutions. Cireson collects license counts for product improvement and abuse purposes on understanding more on how companies utilize the various apps across the business. This data will not affect any license agreements.

These fields are used to track consistent use of the Cireson Portal license in a single environment.  If this deviates by more than 10% over a 7-day period, this may be flagged as license abuse.  Please refer to this article on license abuse.

The Portal License provides licenses for the following applications:

  • Analyst Portal
  • Self Service Portal
  • HTML Knowledge Base
  • Portal Dashboards

Network requirements

Both the portal and the console licensing application communicate with the licensing server using the address https://licensing.cireson.com and port 443. Should an IP address be required the web address can be pinged, please note that the address is not static and will change, though the changes will be rare. An easy test of connectivity is if a web browser can load the webpage at https://licensing.cireson.com from the management server then the console app and the portal can also communicate with the server.
