Overview
The Cireson Asset Management solution components do not need to be installed in a specific order, however as the Asset Management classes are used to store the data that is imported, it is recommended to install the Asset Management classes first before attempting to install or configure any of the import products.
Please ensure you have a Product Key and the Cireson Licensing installed before installing this app. If you do not have a Product Key for your environment, please request this through our portal request offering. Please read more about Cireson Software Licensing here.
Note: A Product Key is designed for use with a specific environment only. If you require additional Product Keys for use with TEST/DEV/STAGE environments, you can request these through our portal request offering.

Step 1: Installing Prerequisites and Checks
Both of these sections are optional for installing Cireson Asset Management. If you aren't going to be using custom form extensions or the data warehouse, you can skip this step.
Copy the following DLL’s to the Service Manager installation folder (by default, %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager) on each of the Service Manager Management servers within the environment:
Microsoft.ServiceManager.WorkflowAuthoring.ActivityLibrary.dll
Microsoft.ServiceManager.WorkflowAuthoring.Common.dll
{Optional Step} Cireson Asset Management Authoring
To enable the ability to author new forms and classes for Asset Management copy the following DLL's to the Authoring Tool installation folder:
(by default, %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager Authoring\PackagesToLoad)
Microsoft.ServiceManager.WorkflowAuthoring.ActivityLibrary.dll
Microsoft.ServiceManager.WorkflowAuthoring.Common.dll
{Optional Step} Data Warehouse Cireson Asset Management
If the Data Warehouse functions for Asset Management is intended to be used, perform the following Initial checks before importing any Asset Management Data Warehouse Management Pack:
- Check under Data Warehouse\Data Warehouse Jobs. Do any jobs show a "Failed" status?
- Check ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) is working correctly - are new data and changes in the CMDB being reflected in the Data Warehouse as expected?
- Check the Operations Manager event log on the Data Warehouse Management Server.
If any of these checks fail, or there are errors in the event log, you will want to resolve these before importing the Asset Management Data Warehouse management packs. You can still proceed with a regular installation (without Data Warehouse installation).
Step 2: Installing Cireson Asset Management
To install the Asset Management app, import the provided management pack bundles (mpb) and unsealed management pack XML into SCSM and copy the provided Cireson.AssetManagement.Workflows.dll to the Service Manager installation directory.
To complete this installation, perform the following steps:
- Navigate to the Administration workspace.
- Select the Management Packs node.
- Select Import on the Tasks menu.
- Import the following provided management pack bundles and unsealed management pack:
- CiresonAssetManagement.mpb
- CiresonAssetManagementPreviewForms.mpb
- Cireson.AssetManagement.Workflows.xml
Copy the provided DLL file Cireson.AssetManagement.Workflows.dll to the Service Manager installation folder, by default %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center\Service Manager, on the Workflow Server.
If the environment has more than one management server, copy the DLL to each management server to allow for failover of the workflow server if required in future.
Step 3: {Optional Step} Install Cireson Asset Management Data Warehouse Management Packs
To install the Asset Management Data Warehouse management packs, import the provided sealed management packs into SCSM. This section covered the steps for the Data Warehouse Management Pack, the Data Warehouse Reporting Management Pack and the Data Warehouse Cubes management Pack. The Reports and Cubes Management packs are optional steps.
You will want to import each management pack separately to ensure smoothness of operation and minimize issues that can occur.
To complete this installation, perform the following steps:
- Navigate to the Administration workspace.
- Select the Management Packs node.
- Select Import from the Tasks menu.
- Import the provided sealed management pack:
- Cireson.AssetManagement.DataWarehouse.mp - Perform Interval Steps A and B below.
- Import the provided sealed management pack bundle:
- Cireson.AssetManagement.DataWarehouse.Reports.mpb - Perform Interval Steps A and B below again.
- Import the provided sealed management pack:
- Cireson.AssetManagement.DataWarehouse.Cubes.mp - Perform Interval Steps A and B below again.
Interval Step A - MPSyncJob
Once the sealed management pack has been imported it will then be synchronized with the Data Warehouse via the MPSyncJob. It is important to let this sync job to complete and associate the management pack to the Data Warehouse before proceeding.
To check the status of the MPSyncJob and its current status:
- Navigate to the Data Warehouse workspace.
- Expand the Data Warehouse node and select the Management Pack child node.
- Search for the Cireson Asset Management Data Warehouse management pack by manually scanning the list or using the search filter.
- Check the Deployment Status of the management pack. If the status is Running, then the MPSyncJob has not completed yet.
Note: This process can take an hour or more depending on the environment. DO NOT continue with any other management pack imports until this process has finished.
Interval Step B: MPSyncJob Association
Once the status of the management pack reports as Completed it is also necessary to check the association of the MPSyncJob.
To check the job details of the MPSyncJob:
- Navigate to the Data Warehouse workspace.
- Expand the Data Warehouse node and select the Data Warehouse Jobs child node.
- Select the MPSyncJob and search the Synchronization Job Details for the Cireson.AssetManagement.DataWarehouse management pack.
- Check the status of the management pack. The process has completed when the status of the Management pack is shown as Associated.
Note: This process can take an hour or more depending on the environment. DO NOT continue with any other management pack imports until this process has finished.

To confirm that the Cireson Asset Management Data Warehouse Reports management pack has been successfully installed:
